COMPLAINTS / CONCERNS / QUERIES ABOUT ENT CARE:

As a patient, you have a right to receive good medical care in line with the Patients’ Rights Charter of South Africa.

The South African Society of Otorhinolaryngology has in its Constitution the following principles:

OBJECTIVES:

  • The objectives of the Society shall be:

  • to serve as the overall representative body of otorhinolaryngologists in the Republic

  • to promote the practice and professional and allied interests of  otorhinolaryngologists in the Republic:

  • to promote the practice of otorhinolaryngology in keeping with current best international practice

  • to act in the best interests of patients requiring otorhinolaryngology care

We further require the ENT Surgeons who are Members of the ENT Society to adhere to a Credo, which states inter alia that each member will “use my knowledge and skills to promote the health and well-being of my patients”.

Should you be unhappy / concerned / uncertain about care you have received from an ENT surgeon, we encourage you to contact us through our Secretary, Janette Pieters: email:

We will then consider your matter, possibly through our Ethics Committee, and advise you accordingly.

Should you remain unsatisfied, you have the options of:

• Reporting the matter to the HPCSA for their consideration: email

• Consulting with a lawyer of your choice
